From nearby Fisherman's Village, Kingfisher Fleet www.kingfisherfleet.com offers boat tours (and fishing charters) of the harbour, and down to the Gulf Islands of Cayo Costa and Cabbage Key, and in the evenings their famous sunset tours.
Or renting your own boat for a day or two will add a new dimension to your holiday. There are plenty of local boat rental places nearby (no experience necessary, full instruction given)
From your dock explore the miles of canals and waterways of Charlotte Harbour and Punta Gorda, or for the more adventurous, head down for the islands of the Gulf, (dolphins guaranteed) picnic on deserted beaches, visit restaurants only accessible by boat such as Cabbage Key, Boca Grande, Captiva and Sanibel.
